Royal typewriter

Stumbled across an american-made typewriter with portuguese keyboard. It has about 80 heavy years old. The weight is about 22 Kilos! I didn´t resist to make a photo trip around it. Amazing and solid piece of machinery…

  4. OH, this is great! I love great captures of machinery. Some machines are art hiding behind usefullness.

  5. This reminds me of when I lived in a small town in the interior of Brazil (1967-69.) I was teaching English at a ginásio and had to use a typewriter like this in the priest’s office to type worksheets and tests. It took me about three months to get used to the slightly-different configuration of the keyboard to accommodate accent marks in Portuguese. I was always a poor typist and that made it even worse. And, of course, typewriters don’t have delete or undo options.

Thanks for taking me on this memory tour with your wonderful photos.

Quando era miúdo, brincava com máquinas destas no emprego da minha mãe… São objectos com muito peso – literalmente – e personalidade. Obrigado por comentar e partilhar, CJ.
