Way down, below the ocean…

Exploring the ocean without diving or getting wet… I can really lose myself in these shapes, textures and colors.

These shots also show me why I’ll never ditch my compact camera. Besides being portable, it excels at macro and has a distinctive feel to it, if you compare it with a dedicated macro lens in a bigger sensor camera, as in here. It has much more depth of field and the wider angle makes the objects look immense.

Is a compact camera the same as a point-and-shoot camera?

The canon ixus 300 hs has some refinements like a high sensitivity sensor but I think it falls in the P&S category. A compact camera can be very sophisticated and high quality device. A Point and shoot is, by definition, a simple camera to operate but less controllable by the photographer.

  6. Such a simple object becomes so complex upon close examination! The texture is so vivid, I can imagine running my finger along the ridges and smooth curves of the shells. Beautiful photos Antonio, thank you for sharing them.
