Indian Summer: Udaipur (IV) – The marble and the plaster

The power of the maharajas in India is better understood when we appreciate the sumptuous palaces and forts, especially in Rajasthan. The city palace of Udaipur is no exception and dominates the scenery in an ostensive manner. The patina of time starts to show and the building is not as well maintained as other similar palaces in that Indian state. However, its unusually romantic lakeside location makes us rapidly forget that question…
