About the smiles (I)

Bago region, Myanmar. 2016

Not many of us would greet a perfect stranger with such a smile… I didn’t ask his name or chat with him because I didn’t want to get on his way. I smiled back and thanked him for posing briefly for me. I didn’t thank him enough, though. You see… spontaneous, warm smiles like this one are the sort of thing that helps me restore some faith in mankind. The fact that people living so far apart can instantly find some common ground in a form of a smile is heart-warming. When one travels, one can see many astounding things – natural or manmade – but in the long run, it’s the warm and kind people you encounter that stay with you the longest.
