The ever-changing elements (I)

There are just a few places I know where I can go to anytime, over and over again, without feeling bored or tired. Magoito is one of those places… Relentlessly battered by the sea, it always shows a different face every time I go there. The ground can be covered in pebbles of every sort in one time or filled with an endless strip of smooth sand on another. Morning mists often hide the coastal hills and the sea itself , making us feel like walking in a limbo of sand and pools of sea water. Extreme tides can expose large chunks of clam-covered rocks or completely cover it up to the very foot of the cliffs, causing the disappearance of the entire place. It is as beautiful as it is elusive and that’s why I love the place…

Molten

Standing on the edgy, sharp shoreline at night, lit by orange floodlights, made me imagine I was on top of a volcano, with its molten lava tossed against the crater wall…

Peeping through rocks

Time to take my good old 14-45mm kit zoom out after nearly eight months of inactivity and make some wide-angle shots with it!

Wild coast

Northway from Cabo da Roca, the westerner point of continental Europe, stretches a rocky shoreline relentlessly hit by the sea, especially during wintertime.

Magoito beach lies in one of the numerous niches carved by ancient rivers in the rocky wall. It happens to be my favorite…
