Looking up!
Lately I’ve been taking pictures in a more relaxed kind of way, without any concerns neither with having a subject matter to a series or a project or with the urgency of publishing a post in a given day/date. However, I did found among my latest photos an unsuspected tendency towards the adoption of a low angle of view. Curious…

UPDATE: April/30/ 2012
Being “Freshly pressed” gave me the unique opportunity to have my photoblog content exposed. I’m still surprised – not to say overwhelmed – by the positive reactions I received. I wish to welcome all new readers and followers, hoping to share different photographic paths and the common passion for photography.
Thank you all for your supporting words and insights. They give me the will and motivation to explore deeper and to do better.

These where mostly shot with a canon compact, a small camera I take with me everywhere. I find it useful to be able to shoot single handed in the most awkward points of view.
BTW, I find your blog very interesting and look forward to explore it…

Your photos are brilliant and perfect oh and amazing and so many more things. Thank you for sharing them. My favorite is the jet contrails in the sky with the sun boasting a halo around it. That was a cool shot. The orange texture in the one photo is incredible too. Thanks for sharing with us all. Beautiful blogging.

The halo was a lucky shot. I “looked up” and saw that big circle around the sun and the jet trail shadowing it. The curious thing is I’m almost certain that the dozens of people near by, walking, jogging and talking, missed this vision completely.

My favorite is the first one–of the pine. I don’t know what species of pine that is, but I’ve seen it in pictures of countries surrounding the Mediterranean. Beautiful!

Even though you say you’ve been taking photos in a relaxed way with less focus on subject matter, I think this post could easily be a lovely study of texture: the smooth metals, tree bark, rust, rough brick. Lovely.

Love number 4 – what I was thinking is that the black border put limits on your pretty pictures… might be soooooo much better without. But this is just a suggestion, can totally understand that you like it – tates and colours… 😉

About the framing, I tried heavy frames, no frames at all and now I´m putting this thin frame that I find it’s some sort of compromise between the two. Maybe it’s just a phase but it’s difficult for me to decide in a definitive way. It’s pretty much like the “colour vs black & white” question…

Keep the frames – it is different and shows a bit of flare. Anyone can post a basic picture – you obviously try to add some extra lustre to your shots. like it.

If I may ask , what’s the type of camera you are using? how did you practice/work until you became skilled?

I use different types, essentially an olympus dslr for more “serious” photography and a compact camera that I take with me everywhere I go.
I’m basically a self-taught amateur photographer who red a lot of photography books and has a consuming passion for taking and seeing pictures.

Maybe it’s just that you have an unusual point of view, an eye for details that most people would miss by taking the conventional angles. Or you really, really love the sky.

Congratulations! I usually avoid commenting on freshly pressed sites because they tend to get inundated with new fans. But viewing your photos has made me realize that there truly is beauty all around. You just have to be able to see it. And capture it. If not with a camera, then at least in your mind’s eye. I tend to complain that there’s nothing new to shoot out here in the desert. But that’s not true. You just have to see things slightly different to be able to turn the mundane into art. You certainly have that ability! Thank you.

Beautiful composition and colors! It reminded me of social project I heard about in a Ted Talk called “Look Up More.” Basically it played on the fact that when we get busy and preoccupied we tend not to take the time to look up and appreciate the sights or just acknowledge the things around us that we take for granted. Very refreshing pictures – thanks for sharing. 🙂

Oh these were quite unique. While reading, I didn’t know quite to expect, but when I saw the images I was very very impressed as well. There’s a lot going on in each of the pictures and I found it incredibly artistic, slightly abstract, but very well intentioned. I really enjoyed these images as they tantalized my inner creativity and artist!

Great variety! A lower angle of view has always been quite amusing, just makes you feel that there are thing higher and bigger than you… And indeed, the objects captured fit that description. Gives a more realistic feel.

Fantastic photographs! But do you prefer the relaxed method of photographing, or do you like the urgency of an impending deadline to get your creativity going? I have to admit I like the pressure to keep me focused..! Congrats on Freshly Pressed 🙂

Thanks, Alexandra. The self-imposed deadlines are good to keep me focused also, but to much pressure and stiffness can result in posted shots that, in a second glance, I wouldn’t find with enough interest to share. It’s a question of balance, I think. I put some pressure on myself to shoot everyday by I only post it when I think I have something worthwhile.

Antonio, congrats on being “Freshly pressed” join the club, it feels super nice to be picked from amongst thousands of blogs. Impressive set of visual cues here. I love the different vantage points and to be honest it reminds me a lot of some shots I took late last year. I love your sense of spatial orientation as well on these shots.
